A high quality eco-development of 20 holiday lodges on a former caravan park site on the south coast of Cornwall.

The development benefits from its unique coastal location, but is situated in a natural hollow which protects sensitive views from Talland bay and the south-west coast path, and from the surrounding countryside.

The landscape design focuses on enhancing the ecological value of the site and creating an ideal habitat for the rare Cirl Bunting, recently re-introduced into this part of Cornwall. The lodges have Sedum roofs and wood burning stoves. A natural swimming pool, inspired by the rock pools found along the coast, is provided for communal use. Surface water drainage is retained on site as part of a sustainable urban drainage scheme (SUDS).

Structure planting utilises native shrubs and trees to create character and define views, with some ornamental ‘accent’ species in the open space areas to provide visual amenity for the residents. Planting around the lodges themselves will be ‘prairie’ style using ornamental ground covers, perennials and grasses, complementing the colours and textures of the timber cladding on the buildings.
